The contents of AVCS Base exchange sets are now allocated to make the zip files efficient to produce and are not configured to keep them small enough to be burned onto physical discs. In the future, UKHO also intend to increase the time period between Base weeks. This is likely to mean that the Weekly Update exchange sets zip files may also become too large to be burned onto disc.
To reduce the use of plastic, we strongly encourage vessels to take their weekly updates by download through back of bridge systems or to be provided with the smaller ‘week-only’ exchange sets available from the UKHO FTP.
