Texo Drone Survey and Inspection’s (Texo DSI) offshore division and the commercial division of the Scottish Fishermen’s Federation (SFF) have announced a joint venture to provide fishing vessels as a platform for deploying unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for the offshore oil and gas sector.
SFF Services Ltd (SFFSL), the commercial arm of the SFF, was established in 1986 and provides fishing vessels to the offshore oil and gas, renewables and subsea cable sectors as a cost-effective platform for a range of tasks.
These include acting as guard vessels for subsea infrastructure, post-decommissioning and debris clearance trawling, and a range of survey and environmental monitoring tasks, including acting as platforms for deploying UAVs and ROVs.
Texo DSI provides drone survey and inspection services to the offshore sector, utilising technologies such as LiDAR (light detection and ranging), ultrasonic thickness testing, optical gas and hyperspectral imaging, and remote/supply drop capabilities. The company also provides close visual, thermographic and internal UAV inspection services.
