The UKHO have advised on a review of the ADMIRALTY Leisure Chart Folio service in response to feedback and to determine if they can provide a better, safer, and more up to date product range to users. One of the main findings of the review was that the existing folio structure impairs their ability to update the products as regularly as they would wish.
Therefore they intend to remove the folio structure for small craft paper charts and instead, sell them as single sheets delivered through the Print-on-Demand (POD) service. This change will provide several benefits to end-users, including:
• The ability to purchase only those charts that they will use, instead of being required to purchase the full folio;
• New editions of small craft charts will be aligned with new editions of our Standard Nautical Charts (SNCs), ensuring small craft users have access to the latest navigational information as soon as possible;
• Newly purchased charts will include all correction updates up to the date of the last refresh of the chart images.
• The small craft charts will continue to include the SNC number that they are derived from, allowing our standard Notices to Mariners (NMs) to be applied.
This will result in the withdrawal of the ADMIRALTY Leisure Chart Folios as they currently stand, and the Leisure Notices to Mariners (LNMs) that support them.
The Small Craft Chart service is due to launch October 28th 2021 and full roll out will be complete on 2nd December 2021.
